Here are several examples: Good web design has clear calls to action, while bad web design has ones that aren’t clear. Web design that uses fonts with high contrast is smart and works well. Web design that uses fonts with low contrast that are hard to read is not good.

Images and backgrounds that aren’t interesting. Avoid tiled backgrounds as a general rule. Even though there are a few times when a tiled background might be a good idea, most of the time they are distracting.

Links and buttons are not clear. Visitors shouldn’t have to hunt for links and buttons.
